Working with DEXD, the focus of this project was to develop architectural standards for all new subway stations. Our approach began by first immersing our team in understanding the many transit user profiles, understanding their expectations, their challenges, all while focusing on a human-centric design methodology. With the many choices of transit modes and their various physical interfaces, user consistency was a key component in establishing the standards. This initial work resulted in the design of a comprehensive Passenger Journey map, which highlighted what the passenger was thinking, doing and feeling throughout the various physical spaces in the subway stations. A key metric identified were the various physical and digital touchpoints that the passenger would engage.
