lcp was hired through the Housing Leadership Council of San Mateo to help support an outreach campaign about the benefits of increasing the amount of housing that is built in their community. As part of a larger multi-disciplinary team which included various public relations groups, lcp developed an overall outreach strategy for the project. The goal was to drive a more positive message about increased housing in their city to keep housing prices affordable while maintaining the types of businesses and services that residents love and rely on.
The campaign included the development of public presentations, mailers, fact sheets, infographics, and art direction for an interactive website where San Mateo residents can help share their positive stories about why they call the City home, as well as stories from people who were priced out or forced to live somewhere outside the City. The messaging was heavily supported by data showing that additional housing, especially higher density housing that is located in Transit-Oriented Developments is a net positive for the community on a variety of fronts, and in fact is not the primary driving favor for increased traffic.
